ngc1499 California Neb (part)

Post by ChrisLX200 »

This is an Ha/SII composite of the California neb - or as much of it as I could fit on the Atik490EX's chip at one go using my NP127is+0.8x reducer. SII channel doesn't have enough subs so it's still a bit noisy, total was 14 and 8 x 20mins respectively. The noise reduction tools in StarTools really are the best, I have PixInsight but prefer to use StarTools where I can.

Man... that fine detail is amazing - it goes on, right into the shadows! You did a really good job with showing the monster/object throughout the full dynamic range with nary a speck of noise to be seen. Kudos!
