Helix reprocessed, from last fall

Post by 1074j »

I've gone back and reprocessed my Helix data from last fall. The original image wasn't bad, but I thought I could do better now that I'm more used to StarTools. HaLRGB using a C-11 with a .5 focal reducer and Atik460exm camera. Maybe a bit too red? I had a problem with over-saturated images as my monitor wasn't calibrated well. I'm still not sure if it is. Any advice?

I got none. That's a text book Helix.
Maybe you could use the same technique you used on your excellent M1 image to layer back in the RGB stars?
I'm curious how you created the luminance and color blends? (just wanting to know people's preferences :) )

I blend the Ha into both the L and the R channels and sometimes blend it in after the LRGB image is finished.

I did layer them back in, but I didn't spend much time bringing out the colors in the lightly stretched RGB stars. I could of done better there.

Interesting... Thanks!
Blending Ha in with R usually throws off the color balance, but you seem to have managed well here.
