Colorful Aristarchus
Re: Colorful Aristarchus
Tack sharp! Does the color signify any type of mineral richness in that area?
Did you use Decon? In that case, did you set the 'Image Type' to Lunar/Planetary? I'm saying this because I see some clipping in the highlights and possibly shadows. Using the 'Image Type' option can prevent this.

Can't get anything pass you! I used the deconvolution within registack. Didn't think to use it in ST because?...... I guess it isn't stretched when I start it in ST is it?

If the source delivers the data stretched, StarTools can try to reverse the stretch. After that, the data is more or less linear so you can apply deconvolution in StarTools, rather than in Registax.
Happy to have a look at the data!

Thanks for the data!Starry Eyes wrote:On it's way!
I wasn't able to extract materially more as the data seems to have been modified already.
Having the virgin data as it came out Registax (no enhancements, etc.) would be beneficial!

Here's what I came up with in StarTools; A slightly better preservation of the highlights IMO.Starry Eyes wrote:Done!
log;

--- Bin
Parameter [Scale] set to [(scale/noise reduction 80.01%)/(156.21%)/(+0.64 bits)]
--- HDR
Equalize preset
Parameter [Dark/Bright Response] set to [7.06]
Parameter [Detail Size Range] set to [260 pixels]
--- Deconvolution
Parameter [Image Type] set to [Lunar/Planetary]
Parameter [Radius] set to [2.3 pixels]
Parameter [Iterations] set to [11]

Re: Colorful Aristarchus
Thanks for taking the time to look at this and detailing the work flow so well. Now I see what some of those sliders can do. I definitely see the improvement in the highlight issue.
I was able to replicate your results on the first go! Question. What is the theory behind binning @ 80.1% do for the process?
As an experiment I may try to use the wavelets in Registack without stretching the dynamic range unduly to see what that can do.

I just wanted to match the resolution up on Astrobin (which seems smaller for some reason).Starry Eyes wrote:Question. What is the theory behind binning @ 80.1% do for the process?
