StarTools 1.9 preview

FYI, version 1.9.554.1 alpha will not open on my MacBook Pro with the M1 processor.

I just tried on an MacBook Pro with M1 + latest macOS and was able to launch StarTools without issue...
Please make sure to follow the unquarantining procedure (which was updated for macOS 13/Ventura).

Do let me know if the issue persists!

Hi Ivo,

I downloaded it again and ran the un-quarantine procedure again (carefully this time). It opens just fine. I think my mistake before was launching that Terminal procedure from the unzipped Disatro download folder instead of the StarTools application in that folder. Sorry for bothering you with my mistake.

Blue outlines mean there is too much nebulosity surrounding the star to get a good estimate of the PSF.

Thanks. Yes, seems reasonable as the blue outlines coincide with gas/dust.

There is a CHANGELOG file included that details all the changes between the beta versions.

The current things being tested are the translations and an AutoDev enhancement;

If you are a "victim" of the optical illusion "donut" issue (the way stellar profiles are stretched by AutoDev due to non-linearities in the stellar profiles in data produced by some stacker/sensor combos), the latest version allows for providing AutoDev more information about the targeted bit-depth precision. This in turn allows for AutoDev to avoid allocating dynamic range to these anomalies.

very interesting feature, the Bit-depth one. But been testing and even though is true that when using AutoDev minimises the outer "donut", moving to Decon it makes an "outer" ring more prominent. I have tried same file with 1.8 and latest 1.9, tried setting that bit depth setting to my native 16bit then again 12bit , and in autoDev might looks good, but Decon creates that artifact.
Since 1.9 lacks the Decon "fine control" present on 1.8, i can not fix it with other parameters, not even pushing both Derining focus and fuzz. (tried many values with them )
Here are the examples . (ignore color aberration, as i'm still playing with tilt and back focus )

This aside, checking at the CHANGELOG, I haven't received any material to translate, so I'm assuming you either using automatic translation tools or parts of the translation I've done in the past for the app or the manual.
