1_9_535 fails to launch

Post by almcl »

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but I can't get 1_9_535 to launch,

I've tried both GPU and non GPU versions both normal and run as administrator and all I get is this:
Untitled-1.jpg
Untitled-1.jpg (69.21 KiB) Viewed 25042 times
System is
Win 11 pro 64 bit
AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Eight-Core Processor 3.65 GHz
16 GB

On a single occasion it launched as admin but the labels on the buttons were in a mix of languages.

Hi Al,

I've tested on a few Windows machines, but don't seem to be able to reproduce the issue... :/

Can you confirm for me all the files have been extracted, including the "config" file?

28 items in the distro sub directory and yes, config is one of them.

Just tried downloading and installing on a slightly lower spec machine *Win 11 home edition) with almost the same result. No 'stopped working' message, the program just disappears. The event log gives similar fault reports.

Just downloaded, did nothing other than extract and then copy the license, ran (told Windows Defender warning all is good), and all seemed fine. Came up in English. I took it through SVD on a test file.

This is an older, c 2016, Win 10 desktop.

After work tonight I'll test it on my W11 (but also older, c 2017) laptop.

Got it to run very briefly (10 seconds) before it again stopped working. The screen shot below is (I think) in Spanish, despite English being selected in the configuration file.

This time the event log listed StarTools as the faulting module:

Faulting application name: StarTools-Windows64-GPU.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000
Faulting module name: StarTools-Windows64-GPU.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000

Thank you for your persistence Al. I found the issue (it's was nasty one that indeed sometimes made it work, sometimes not).

It should be resolved in 1.9.536 alpha now up for download. Do let me know if that fixes the problems you are having!

Thank you so much, Ivo.

That's fixed it!

Working fine now and all the buttons are in English (or should that be =english ? )

Amazingly quick turn around - brilliant support as always!

Cheers
