M45

Post by fmeireso »

Hi all,

Figured i should post this one. M45 in their reflection nebulae. I really wanted the nebulaes stood out well so i took over 8 hours of exposure in 3 minutes subs.
Moon was in the sky in 2 of my sessions, and the cluster sat still too low when i started. Wanted to do it anyhow.
focus became a bit off due to temp drop the last session, very unusual here at my place. Bit climatchange actually cause the temps during the day were very high to 20° in November...unseen..should be almost freezeing now, but it does not.

The same here :( Usually we already in October have some nights below 0 degrees.

Best regards, Dietmar.

Thanks Dietmar.

Guess ,yes, it came out rather well. Maybe it is one of the 'easier' targets. Still i was afraid i of getting the colors a bit right.

Anyhow despite the moon and the dropping FWHM i am pretty happy with the result...

Lovely! The bright stars look quite well under control.

The smaller stars that overlap the reflecting dust look to have a dark ring around them. Is that from Shrink, or just part of the highly compressed jpg version?

I decided to make M45 my main Fall / Early Winter home (Bortle 6.5) OSC target. Haven't imaged it since my earliest dslr days. Then it didn't fit well in my 183 chip, so now with APS-C IMX571 I'm having another go. Taking my time, not shooting M45 when the moon is up, and hoping to accumulate at least 20 hours. We'll see if I get impatient and grab 6 hours at the Bortle 4 club site, or if I have the will to shoot other things next time down there.

We have the opposite weather problem now, however. Expected to be about -8° to -5°C overnight for the next week - that's too cold for me to sit out in the countryside.

I think it may be a left over from shrinking, allthough i did not shrink them that much...or too strong deconvulation...i think i overdid it just a tiny bit.

The stack was not that easy to process. Reviewing it , i noticed quite some lightpollution and gradients . The object was low, straight in the LP of the industrial channel zone about 20 km away. And moon did her best to contribute to that too. Rather heavy wiping cleaned it a bit up...

Actually guess it would have been better to wait another month until it was higher up , but i just could not wait...still as it turned out, this is one of the best 'productions' i made sofar imho..i kinda like it.

Yes , the cold is an issue. That is why i never go 'out' for imaging, everything is done from the backyard. Once the system is going, i can sit insight having a beer :obscene-drinkingcheers: and monitor it in the house. No more cold feet for me... :)
