IC 342 "Hidden" galaxy

Post by rodolgo »

My first image post here...
And my first image almost successfully processed with Startools.
I've been struggling for months, until I just played with the paramters of the Autodev module.
Lessons learned: If this very first step is wrong, then now way to get anything acceptable going forward.

Not happy with the blue star halos, though. I hope they do not distract too much the image reading.
Comments welcome.

Nice. :D

Congrats on your first image post and successful ST workflow.

Remember too though that AutoDev can be redone at almost any time, just select the redo global option. Took me a while myself before getting that down pat. Your prior settings should carry over except IFD, so you can just put that back where it was (if you want) and then adjust from there to where it seems the stretch should have been in the first place.

I don't think the blue stars are bad at all, but there aren't really that many, so a light touch with fringe killer may be enough to tame them down for you.

Thanks, Mike, for your encouraging message.
I never got any successful results in ST, and was about to give up, until I further inssited on the Autodev functionality.
I think I unlocked a mental bias in my brain!
