Many of the peculiar galaxies I’ve been posting are small and funky. This one could win a beauty contest. https://www.astrobin.com/ji6ujl/

NGC 1398: A Double-Ringed Beauty
NGC 1398, in the constellation of Fornax, has a very bright central bulge and a dense, bright inner ring. The outer ring is faint and flocculent. All in all, an eye-catching galaxy.
This galaxy was included in the Catalog of Southern Peculiar Galaxies and Associations, by Halton Arp and Barry Madore, because of its diametric companion galaxies. It meets the requirements of Category 8.

Re: NGC 1398: A Double-Ringed Beauty
Truly stunning!
I hunted this up on Stellarium to see if there's any chance. Not much.
Pretty low in the south so would be a difficult setup for me, and then there's also the long focal length. Then again I did pull Omega Centauri off the horizon, so never say never. I'll remember this one though, for...someday.
Edit: Your equipment is way outside my knowledge, but...gotta be a typo on that pixel size? That'd be big!

Hi Mike,
The 16803 does have 9 mm pixels. I wonder how much longer that sensor will be used? CMOS is taking over!

Ok, I did look the camera up. I suppose you mean micrometer. I've usually seen that as um, and read your mm as millimeter! That seemed pretty big.Russ.Carpenter wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 4:06 pm Hi Mike,
