NGC 7755—Rare Galaxy in Sculptor

This image of the barred spiral NGC 7755 is the first in Astrobin. I’ve found only one other amateur image. The professional images featured in CDS are the usual DSS and panSTARRS low resolution photographs. This image is part of my on-going investigation of peculiar galaxies and associations in the Southern Hemisphere.

NGC 7755 meets the the requirements of The Catalog of Southern Peculiar Galaxies and Associations, by Halton Arp and Barry Madore. It falls under Category 1 (galaxies with interacting companions) and Category 8 (galaxies with apparent companions.) One of the companions is on one of NGC 7755’s spiral arms.

How cool! Rare indeed to be the first a-bin post. I presume, as usual, this is incredibly tiny, faint, and hard to find.

Hi Mike,

It's not hard to find, but it's pretty small (3.6 arc minutes). I've discovered that I can get down to about 1.5 arc seconds with at least some detail.
