wipe module and nebulasity

Post by lensman57 »

Hi,

I am sorry to ask this silly question but is there a way that WIPE module could emulate the DBE action of the PI for background sampling? I have a lot of problems trying keep wipe away from touching out delicate nebulasity.
Many thanks for your help and advice.

Regards,

No such thing as a silly question!

The (also not very silly) answer is that, yes, you can tell Wipe where to sample and where not to sample ('DBE style) by means of a mask. In this YouTube video for example a mask is used with Wipe to tell it not to sample M8 for background pixels. To do this the lassoo tool was used to make a big gap in the mask where any of M8's nebulosity is located.
