starless bin

Post by Rkonrad »

Hi Ivo

I have encountered a issue. Having removed stars, I tried binning from full resolution to 35% and found this:

full resolution: https://www.flickr.com/gp/rkonrad/z248B2
binned: https://www.flickr.com/gp/rkonrad/4H4KGW

Something wrong I think...

Cheers Richard

Edit: The same effect happens when I enter "develop" module after removing stars (never when stars are in)

Re: starless bin

Hi Richard,

In both instances (Bin and Develop) StarTools performs an automatic normalization This is to make sure the full dynamic range is used. E.g it's a simple linear multiplication of brightness values to make sure that the brightest pixel in de image renders as white.

If the purpose is to process stars and detail separately, then this behavior should hopefully be quite helpful to you!

Hope this helps,
