Save is losing some color

Save is losing some of the color…

I’m on a calibrated wide gamut screen.

StarTools uses whatever default color profile is in use for your operating system.
As such, any output saved, is calibrated against that color profile.

If you wish to view the output, you will need to use a viewer that also uses the default color profile. For example, you should find that if you load saved output back into StarTools, there was no actual loss of color.

StarTools does indeed put the onus on the user to obtain and embed/apply any custom color profiles/gamuts. If need be, however, you can use GIMP or PhotoShop for this.

Without an embedded color profile, some applications will assume the more limited (and more portable) sRGB gamut, which will indeed appear less saturated on a non-sRGB calibrated screen.

Ivo,

I don’t know if others are having this problem.

However, all applications such as photo shop, light room, PI etc. provide consistent color on my calibrated display.
I have a generated ICC profile for my NEC 4K monitor.
My monitor is calibrated to sRGB.
Only ST diverges. If I open a PNG file it looks different on ST.

Thanks, Eric

Yes, if I load ST saved output back into StarTools, it re-creates the original ST color.

In any case, I think the solution would be for ST to start using the ICC profiles.
