Bin module

Post by fmeireso »

I wonder ,how to determine what is the best binning setting.

7-25-35-50 ??

It seems of course a lower rate makes ST run faster in processing, which i can understand.

But how to determine what is the best?

My stacks come from a unmodded DSLR

Cheers

You will want to Bin your dataset if it is oversampled.

Oversampling is easy to detect; it simply smears out one pixel of detail across many more pixels.

For example, if you can see a non-overexposing ("small") star take up more than 3x3 pixels, chances are your dataset is oversampled.

Hope this helps!
