Hi,
Yes, it *should* stay linear, but be very very careful not to apply any corrections (color, sharpness, gamma adjust or otherwise).

Thanks for responding, I had asked because the question is sort of tied into the thread regarding dcraw being run from the command line. Dcraw is working for me, but the file sizes are really huge and DSS is not recognizing the ISO and exposure info, so my masters have to be renamed manually. I am using DSS 3.3.4 and it recognizes DNG files. So I may give it a try to see what I get.
