Here is NGC 4945, an edge-on spiral galaxy that’s about the same size as the Milky Way. Its main claim to fame might be its super massive black hole. NGC 4945 was the subject of the May 28, 2015 APOD and was also featured in the gallery of the European Southern Observatory. The image was captured on a 27 inch Planewave located in Siding Springs, Australia. 1.2 hours of total imaging time, divided equally among R, G and B, binned 1X1. The subs were aligned and stacked in PixInsight, and the rest was in StarTools, except for the cleanup of a little crud with Affinity Photo.
