Interacting Galaxies NGC 1232 and NGC 1232A

Here is yet another case of galaxies altering each other. Although NGC 1232A is much smaller than its sister galaxy NGC 1232, its gravational fields are strong enough to distort its companion galaxy’s spiral arms. Otherwise, NGC 1232 is a wonderfully intricate example of a face-on intermediate spiral.
