Another spiral galaxy from down South

Post by Russ.Carpenter »

This is galaxy season in Chilescope's neighborhood. I hope you're not getting tired of them. Here are the text and image uploaded to Astrobin this morning. The Astrobin URL is https://www.astrobin.com/o5hvly/?nc=user

A Grand Design Spiral—NGC 7424

This impressive, but infrequently imaged, galaxy is thought to be a “field galaxy,” not gravitationally bound to any other galaxy group. It’s called a grand design because of its well-defined spiral arms.

This is an RGB image processed with a synthetic luminance.
