NGC1763--The Bean Nebula

Post by Russ.Carpenter »

This image and text were uploaded this morning to Astrobin. I used the 20 inch Newtonian, F3.6, at Chilescope. Total integration time was 2.5 hours. The Astrobin URL is https://www.astrobin.com/s4w2jp/?nc=user

The more I'm trying the new narrowband tools in StarTools, the more I'm convinced that they are a work of genius.

NGC 1763, The Bean Nebula

This nebula doesn’t get much attention, but has a lot going for it. Strong signals in all three narrowband channels and intricate structures. I uploaded a version of NGC 1763 several years ago, but this one has been upgraded in several ways. I’ve selected a more interesting field of view, greatly improved the local contrast of the nebular structures, and used StarTools to map an alternative to the Hubble palette.

Tech Notes for ASA 500/3.6:
ASA Newtonian, 500 mm aperture, 1900mm focal length, F3.6
FLI Proline 16803, 9 mm pixel, 4096 X 4096
ASA DDM85 equatorial mount
Processing with PixInsight, StarTools, and Affinity Photo
