Hi everyone,
It usually takes me a couple of tries before I'm satisfied with my results. This is the first try for NGC 2146. Comments encouraged

Re: NGC 2146
Here's my second try. I got a lot more detail in the galaxy. I may try restacking as there are a coulple of satellite trails(one right thru the center of the galaxy) that are driving me nuts. http://astrob.in/76675/B/

It's a lovely detailed image of a Galaxy that isn't imaged that often - nice!
I believe I liked your first rendition better though, which had a slightly more blueish tint in the outer regions.
Did you know there is a quick and easy way to remove satellite trails in StarTools?
Since they follow a straight line, you can easily heal them out using the Heal module and creating a mask with the 'Line Toggle' tool. Simply trace the trail (click at the start, let go at the end) and you should have a nice line mask that covers the trail. You can 'Grow' it a little if needed and maybe erase some parts where the galaxy punches through enough to obscure the trail.

I will have to try that satellite trick, thanks. I liked the blue also, but liked the detail of the second one. I'll play with it some more, I'm sure
