Captured a quick hour last night on NGC 5139 Omega Centauri , the big daddy of globular clusters in the Southern Hemisphere.
Bortle 7/8
50% Waxing Moon
6” f6 GSO Newtonian Reflector
EQ6-R pro mount
ZWO 2600MC cooled to -10C , Gain 101
No filters
62 x 60 sec subs ( dithered every 3rd )
Flats and Bias
Stacked in DSS
Processed in Startools V1.8
Linear OSC Bayered not white balanced
Wipe Basic at 90% worked well to mitigate heavy gradients with heavy LP and Moon glare
For the first time , HDR Reveal worked beautifully to reduce and balance the brightness across the main core of this cluster. I just reduced tame to 1.12 from default 1.24
Also used SV Decon with Bin 71% again good results at default of 10 iterations.
Color Scientific , 50/50 layering CIE

Great! That's the big daddy alright.
I'll have to check the timing of this to see where it's rotating right now and when. Might be about time for me to try to scrape this (and Cent A) off the horizon with new equipment. Well, if the weather would cooperate.

It is a great image and a great object.
Very unfortunate , it is totally out of reach from my latitude....

Thanks Gentlemen,
It’s certainly a eye popping glob
I imaged it at my Bortle 3 dark site Obs last year with my old 8” Newt and at the same time observed it with my 12” Goto Dob and Televue Ethos 21mm eye piece
Certainly a sight to behold , mesmerising !!
Cheers
Martin
