hi

This data consists of
4 x 10mins R
2 x 10mins B
1 x 10mins G
15 x 5mins L , 3 x 15mins L taken from a dark site.
Had to reject a few due to satellites.

Edit: http://www.astrobin.com/210770/D/

but I've been having issues getting the right colour balance.
i did try the sample method before turning off tracking, also tried the mask via magic module.
not sure how to get rid of the pink in the core.
is it far off in terms of colour?

Happy to post individual stacked LRGB files.

Cheers

Alistair

Hi Alistair,

You definitely got some nice detail there.
I too am not entirely sure about the colouring - the star field shows very little colour and the diffraction spikes don't show a nice 'rainbow' .
Any chance you could upload that stacked data?
What does your processing log look like?

EDIT: I may be a little slow to respond - I'm travelling and battling RSI :(

Thanks Ivo,

This is the stacked data.

I managed to get a reasonable result playing with colours in PS after the final processing in ST
what do you think

Thanks Alistair,

I had a look at the data and I'd love to know where things aren't working for you with regards to coloring - the data itself is really quite nice!

I used the technique I mentioned elsewhere where I first process L, then RGB and then combine them as the last step in the Layer module.

I would deem the colours in this result pretty accurate, in so fra that the following the usual Color Constancy renderings of other images fit this image as well; It's showing a yellow core (older stars) a blueish outer rim, loads of pinkish HII dotted around the place, while the stars show a good range of temperatures from deep red to orange, yellow, white and blue.

What do you reckon?

Thanks Ivo,

That looks pretty good, much better than what I got.
I was combining LRGB in the LRGB module, not doing RGB separate.
I'll give that a crack and see.
when combining RGB, do I need to turn on cap green and interpolation off?
