Re: Using Affinity Photo just for stacking?
I greatly admire Affinity Photo, but I've only used its astro tools twice. In both cases, I used Affinity Photo for both pre and post processing. It worked, but I have the impression that it is unlikely to match the sophistication of dedicated astro programs. There are lot of stacking programs thes...

Re: Using Affinity Photo just for stacking?
Answering my own query  the Export persona can export layers individually as TIFFs or PNGs though the TIFFs aren't readable by ST. I have successfully stacked and aligned narrowband layers then exported them as PNGs which ST read OK. The detail seems fine although the images appear a little bri...

Using Affinity Photo just for stacking?
Hi, I'm evaluating a number of stacking programs and want to include Affinity Photo, in this case just for its stacking abilities, as it has received favourable reviews in similar evaluations. However, I'm mostly mono and I'm having difficulty in saving/exporting a stack from a filter that has been ...

Re: 1.8 closed alpha feedback
Hi, There is a way to drive COMPOSE module into crashing.... Just load your LUM file and while loading wheel is still turning, hit the RED button. GUI comes up with the directory, try load quickly. Now 2 loading tasks seem to be in the queue which brings whole Star Tools to a grinding halt... No wa...

Re: Please share your processing of a reference image
I understand that there is a script provided by PixInsight for 'dark structure enhancement' that has been demonstrated on this image. Is there a similar technique available in StarTools?

Re: Please share your processing of a reference image
Many thanks, Ivo, I've worked through that process and achieved a similar result. The only difference I get is less noise reduction / smoothing at the end of the process - please can you advise any other selections/adjustments you make (e.g. is it grain removal or equalisation you use?)

Re: Please share your processing of a reference image
Processed using 1.7.417alpha as follows (options/changes only - all others parameters at default values) - Compose mapped as SHO to RGB (no luminance) with equal duration exposures - Binned 50% - Cropped by 20 px on all sides - Autodev using a generous RoI around the target - Wipe with 83% aggressiv...

Please share your processing of a reference image
Hi, Like many, I expect, I mostly use the standard module workflow with default parameters which generally serve very well. However there is always the thought that a tweak here or there, or perhaps the greater use of masks, could produce a 'better' result. Could I suggest that those who are interes...

Re: StarTools 1.6 Final, 1.7 Alpha w/GPU acceleration
Fantastic work, Ivo. Speed of the alpha on my Ryzen 4600H with GeForce GTX 1650 is stunning. Happy to serve as a tester if you need me to do so.
Cheers
Peter
