Re: Donut Stars in HaRGB Synthetic Luminance
Many thanks. I could reproduce the halos with the Ha data though as soon as I stretch it in Autodev? The stretch I attached above was very mild. This made me think it wasn't a filter issue but perhaps a focal reducer reflection issue? I've also noticed these halos in my old DSLR data (which also use...

Re: Donut Stars in HaRGB Synthetic Luminance
Upon further investigation it seems the halos occur when Autodev is applied to any of the data I have (RGB single or stacked subs and Ha single or stacked subs). Given this occurs on a single sub as well as the combined stacking I assume it is not a focus issue. Maybe there is a setting I need to ad...

Donut Stars in HaRGB Synthetic Luminance
Hi, Looking around for solutions to combine Ha and RGB and avoid getting donut like stars (dense white core from the Ha and a donut of colour around it from the RGB). I assume the tighter Ha stars mixed with the RGB cause this. It may be an acquisition issue (i.e. shorter RGB subs, longer Ha) althou...

Re: CLS filter colour balance
I'm finding with a CLS-CCD filter on my Modded DSLR I can get reasonable colour corrections if I process star colour (via a mask) and background/object (via the inverted star mask) separately. I find I normally have to reduce the default 200% saturation and sometimes the object needs very little col...

Re: Pre processing in Nebulosity
Thanks Ivo. I gather then that I should be checking he second option as I'm using a modded 40D for image acquisition and don't think there is any auto white balancing in Nebulosity. Really just wondered what class of image would result if the Demosaic (debayering) option was applied. Option 2 seems ...

Pre processing in Nebulosity
I'm sure this is a question that has been asked many times before but wonder what I should or shouldn't be doing in Nebulosity before working on the .fit file in StarTools. Currnetly I use a Canon DSLR to capture the images in RAW format (CR2 files). I then calliabrate (darks, flats, bias removed), ...
