Re: A question about color

Jochen Thank you so much. I never thought about doing it the way you describe, but I will certainly try it out at first opportunity. I'd say try to load O-III as G and combined stack with Ha/S2 as R and create an artificial Duoband NBA stack this way.Save linear So I load OIII and G in compose modul...

A question about color

For the first time I have tried to integrate LRGB+Ha+SII+OII into one image. I have spent numerous hours trying to get a descent looking result, and I know there is no right or wrong doing this, it's a matter of taste, but I still would like to hear how others would be doing this. Each color have on...

Re: Using StarNet++ with StarTools on linear data

I have found that StarXTerminator does a better job for me than does Starnet++. I assume the process would be the same, but if there are any differences or improvements to this in Startools, I would be interested in what Ivo has to say. It is not free, but I think it results in less artifacts left ...

Re: Using StarNet++ with StarTools on linear data

I am a bit confused here. Maybe this tutorial needs an update to reflect 1.8 version. 1, 2, 3 and 4 is fine, no problem. (ST will load the starless image if it is just opened and then saved using Image Magick) 14. Reloaded the compose module, LRGB files, kept, told ST that the image was non linear t...

Re: Mask module

Do you mean with the similar color and similar brightness modes? I too have thought that could be useful at times. I was more thinking of the "Flood fill brighter pixels" brush mode but it would probably be the same for "Similar color" og "Similar brightness". Good suggestion. I did not think of th...

Jochen
Thank your for your proposals and guide. I will certainly try these out.
I have read Guy's User notes a couple of times, but it's hard to remember everything as you are working on the images.

Re: 1.8 SVDecon (post1)

Thanks for your reply. Pulling light back into point lights is precisely the purpose of deconvolution. Your stars are, as far as I can tell, improved and better defined. If deconvolution works for the rest of the nebulosity, then it works for the stars as well. I was afraid you would say that, and I...

Mask module

When using the flood fill brush modes, it would have been convenient to have sort of a tolerance parameter to accept larger variation in pixel brightness (or darkness). Sometimes a click gives you a handfull of pixels and sometimes a click fills a lot. Being able to increase/decrease the tolerance y...

Save a crop mask

I am missing the possibility to save a crop like you can with a star mask. It would assure that for that image (or set of images - LRGB) you could bring it up the next day and have the exactly same crop, ref. the requirement in the Layer module that the images have to be exactly same size.

1.8 SVDecon (post2)

Continued from post 1, these are the colored images using the three results from the previous post. In the non-decon image, the star color is nice and even, but in the deconvoluted images the stars hav obvious bright centers with no color. The larger star is not so bad with deringing set to 1.0, but...
