Re: Masks query

Hi Ivo Query is in two parts: 1 - I used the straight line method to 'mask' an overhead cable. Naturally the cable is wider than the line so I then used the option that allows the line to grow wider - as I mentioned. It did grow wider, which was fine. 2 - I tried to create another mask to exclude a ...

Masks query

Hello all I have been doing some test shots involving putting my Ra camera with a wide-angle 14mm lens on a trip and taking a series of late-night 30 sec images. I produced a resulting stack. The problem is trying to use the mask to cut off unwanted sections. I was able to remove a corner area via l...

Re: Newly re-processed old data

Hi Ivo This was processed using the 1.6 version. I will install the newer one today. You must take a huge amount of credit for these results. As an astronomer who spent 9 years as an amateur (~1961 to 1968) followed by many more as a professional, using this software has been a boon beyond imaginati...

Newly re-processed old data

ic434region ir 9m_c.jpg If this submission works there should be two pictures: my original data from 2004 processed at that time and a new version using the same data set processed in StarTools yesterday. I have unknown numbers of collected files all asking to be re-processed! I'm showing these as ...

Wonderful warp - but a question

One of my single images is good enough to process but does have a minor tracking problem so I have been experimenting with the repair module. Each star has a slight e-w distortion where the RA has clearly had a small guiding problem - unusual. I experimented with repair and found that warp did an ex...

Re: Star Tools selection for multi-band filters

How could I resist? I have upgraded to v 1.6.

I understand the comment about selecting narrowband - thanks.

I'll post my new query in another thread here.

Lawrence :-)

Re: Compose and narrowband processing

Just to close my previous comment: as mentioned in an adjacent thread, My imaging for the time being - just to see how they all compare - is that I am using a quad-band filter in front of my M25C (rggb) Bayer colour matrix camera and guiding normally for 5-min subs. I could do 10-min subs but the pr...

Re: Star Tools selection for multi-band filters

In desperation about this colour query I contacted the chap who produced/designed my M25C camera and he confirmed that the matrix is now RGGB. I forever hold my peace!

regards

Lawrence

Now I can get back to studying Star Tools!

Reading the ST options

Could this very simple request be agreed? On almost all of the screens I cannot read the options unless I really strain my eyes and even use a magnifying glass. The colours are often dark grey on a darker grey. Please view my screen dump to get an idea. Many of the screens are worse than this. regar...

Re: Star Tools selection for multi-band filters

Hello Ivo My reply is a little complex: Firstly, I assume that you have used the bggr stacked image - as indicated in the caption. To answer initial questions: yes I used AHD in earlier stacked versions then reverted to the other one. I had previously been advised to use AHD. I invariably use darks ...
