Thanks, Dietmar, that fixed it.
I am afraid Dutch is just a bit beyond my slowly failing faculties these days!

572 beta 14 - default language
Great to see another updated version out!
On my system (at least) the menus and messages now appear to be in Dutch:
Not sure if this is a configuration error on my machine (Win 11 pro , AMD Ryzen 9 5950, 32 Gb RAM, NVidia GTX1660) but it occurs in both GPU and non GPU versions.

Re: Controlling stars
OK, here we go. It centres on the technique originally described here: https://forum.startools.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=244 by Ivo for separating the stars from DSOs. This is also referenced in Guy's list of Special techniques Starting with the original stacked image, Optidev, Crop and then wipe. Aft...

Re: Controlling stars
Thanks for sharing your original data, Jeff. I have had a very quick play, using the technique I outlined in our PM exchange. I seem to have lost a lot of detail and the colour has come out differently, perhaps as a result of a rather too quick use of Wipe, but see what you think? Bode_sGalaxy blend...

Controlling stars
Starting this thread in response to a comment by Jeff in the Special Techniques thread. Jeff wondered if there is a simpler workflow to keep the stars under control while teasing out the nebulosity, that perhaps didn't involve Starnet++? I have had a go at the posted jpeg in that thread (1st image h...

Re: DSS set black point to zero now automatic
... ? @almcl , do you think that there is any special relevance of this setting for processing in ST? Well, the advice in one of Guy's tutorials was to avoid the stacking software making any changes to the data and when the check box was available it was advised to leave it unchecked. I am not sure...

Re: DSS set black point to zero now automatic
Hi Dietmar I must confess, I haven't used my DSLR for astro imaging for a while now, so haven't seen any problems as all my images come direct from the ASI 2600mc as .fits files. Interesting idea about making a StarTools fork of DSS which, as you say, is lightning fast now compared to ASTAP. (It han...

DSS set black point to zero now automatic
For those who use Deep Sky Stacker (DSS) the latest editions (5.1.4 and on) are automatically setting the black point to 0 and there is now no option to disable this. In previous versions (eg 4.2.6) a check box was available to prevent this happening, but this has now been removed. ( Discussion on t...

Re: Help needed - fireworks galaxy processing
As Dietmar says, there are two angles of walking noise. You can see them in the screenshot below (from the Wipe module). Dithering should help with this in future. So too would preventing, or at least reducing, image drift. That depends on your imaging and guiding set up and may be harder to achieve...

mask brush mode
Two slightly trivial ones (apologies): In the mask module (1.9.557 beta) the first two mask modes are now both 'Flood fill lighter pixels'. Believe the second one should be 'darker pixels'. Filter mode.jpg In the filter module the Filter mode still offers two 'Pass' where I think the second one ough...
