Re: DSLR Linearity
Lets not forget that DSS is freeware. Costs us nothing, and for the most part, works very well. that said, It would be nice to hear from Luc on this matter, to verify what goes on in the inards of DSS. Just my :twocents-twocents: Cheman, don't get me wrong... It's not my intention to rant over DSS ...

Re: DSLR Linearity
Knowing that DSS uses dcraw internally, it's as easy as adding "-r 1 1 1 1" when performing the debayering. Ha!!! Is that it? It's funny though I'm actually busting my derriere trying to get my point across over at their Yahoo support Group, because I couldn't find Luc's e-mail, but I keep getting ...

Re: DSLR Linearity
That's indeed the case; we can't tell DSS not to whitebalance the data, as far as I know. Maybe someone can put in a feature request with Luc (creator of DSS)? It's a very easy thing for him to add! Hey, I'll definitelly try to reach Luc, then... I'll try and report back with some news... Perhaps i...

Hi Ivo, thanks for your input. I had actually fiddled a bit with a ROI, but got that horrible redish noise on pixels the size of bloody alpacas, and thought that StarTools couldn't cope with it... :P What a fool I was... It actually turned out better than I was hoping... That just goes to pro...

Re: DSLR Linearity
I know this is an old(ish) thread, but doesn't DSS have a couple of checkboxes on the "RAW/FITS DDP configuratioon" window for NOT applying any whitebalance? Does it nevertheless apply whitebalance and we should always choose the "whitebalanced" option in StarTools?

Hi Ivo, As you know I'm just a newbie... One that is VERY impressed by the quality of this software... Well I guess that being a newbie, getting impressed easily is a prerogative... But I'm even more impressed by your dedication to this "cause"... I've been reading the Forums and found a rece...

Orion's Sword
Hi, This is my first deep sky photo and I'm really pleased with it considering all I had was a DSLR and a telephoto lens. Full card: http://www.astrobin.com/147818/ Just Pic: http://www.astrobin.com/full/147818/0/ I've already spotted a few mistakes, namely the difference between the background near...

Flat grey backgrouds on newbie's image (aka please help!!!)
Hi there. First of all let me salute everyone of you guys. I'm new to theese forums as well as astrophotography (at least deep sky stuff). My hobbies for the past few years have been astronomy and photography so I thought of combining those two. I've had the chance to say to Ivo that he is quite a m...
