Re: Is Wipe required for color processing later?
Thanks, Burly. I think I saw your posts about this on the APT forum. Since I am not using PH2 or a guide camera at all, I'm not sure if that calculator would work for the APT guiding feature. But regardless, I think I had it set way too low anyway ... not nearly enough pixels!

Re: Is Wipe required for color processing later?
Hi Ivo, Yes, I was dithering. I'd have to check my APT settings. I think it was every 4 images maybe. The distance dithered might have been very small though, I was totally guessing on those settings. As to the stacking, I re-stacked those images a bunch of times. I might have posted the wrong stack...

Re: Is Wipe required for color processing later?
Thanks Ivo! The more I played with it, I understood what you were saying. I just used the Wipe module very lightly. This is what I was able to get from my 7 hours of integration time in a heavily light polluted area using the L-Enhance filter on my ASI533: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pQAjwNfwfE...

Is Wipe required for color processing later?
Hi, I've been working on my OSC data that was taken through an L-Enhance filter (dual band). I noticed that my data didn't have any obvious gradients, and the Wipe module seemed to make the image look worse and noisier. So I skipped it but when I got to the Color module, I couldn't bring out any col...

Re: OSC Optolong l-eNhance colour
Hi, Here is some image data from my new ASI533 using the L-enhance filter: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uM6WMfxUvOEGHASMa1yysFKo49NgNFip/view?usp=sharing It was from 2 hours of integration in a heavily light-polluted (Bortle 8) zone. Stacked with Flats and Darks. I know I need more integration t...

Re: DSLR Linearity
Thanks for the explanation! That explains some of my issues since I have always chosen option #2 when I should have been choosing #1! I didn't actually realize that DSS was white balancing until I read this thread, and instead was focusing on the "not Bayered" statement in #1. This does, however, ra...

Re: DSLR Linearity
Hi Ivo, This has been a question of mine as well. I also am using data from a T3 that has been stacked in DSS. I perform no other manipulation of the image after stacking; I just save it as a FTS file. So, my image would be: Bayered AND white balanced (since you mentioned that DSS is already applyin...

Re: A few processing questions (noise & color)
Thanks Ivo! I had a feeling it was due to my less-than-stellar signal (pun intended). I can't wait for my SkyTracker so I can start getting some decent exposure times! As to the halos, I'm going to do some experiments with my different lenses and at different f-stops to narrow down that issue. Reall...

A few processing questions (noise & color)
Hi, I have been playing with StarTools for a few weeks now and really like it. But when I see and read of some other's workflows. I'm not getting quite the same results. My issue could very well be my images. I have not received my SkyTracker yet, so am taking shots with my DSLR from a red zone on a...
