Re: The Layer module...help!

Ivo,

The changes planned for Star Tools have me excited. However long the wait may be, I'm sure it will be well worth it.

Re: The Layer module...help!

Hey Ivo! Sorry to hear you were not well and trust you will be back on top form soon. I wish I could specify exactly what I'd like to do with the Layer tool. However, as you imply, it is a tool with a vast range of usages. So, I want to know about everything it can do...lol! I know for some time you...

The Layer module...help!

I think this tool *really* needs a comprehensive tutorial. I have had a look at the "Unofficial User Manual", but it really doesn't go into much depth on Layers. I'm sure Layers has the potential for all kinds of usefulness, but I need much more help than what I have found so far. If Ivo or another ...

Re: First Astro Photograph

Hi Russ! As a rank novice, I'm reluctant to give any advice at all. I've only been imaging for 8 months now. And a Star Tools user for less than that. But if there is one fundamental lesson I have learned, it's the more time you spend gathering data, the less post-processing you will need to do. In ...

Re: A Veil in the high desert

Wonderful widefield - great stuff! May I ask what you used PS for in this instance? Hey Ivo...thank you for your kind appraisal. You asked about my use of PS on this image.... (Please, don't call me a heretic...lol!) I sometimes find the ST Color Module a bit "uncooperative", so I do a bit of tweak...

A Veil in the high desert

I decided to take a break from imaging at near sea level, so took a road trip to a special dark site at 2000 m. It's really astonishing what a difference the dry air at this altitude contributes to imaging. Wish I could build an obsy up there! Image Details: C-11 EdgeHD/CGEM-DX/Hyperstar/Canon 450D-...

Re: A Star Tools triumph over light pollution!

Very nice! An not a trace of any dreaded light pollution! Did you try using the Color module before switching Tracking off? Ivo, Thank you for the kind words...and the awesome software that helps it come together. As far as the "Color" module is concerned, I can't remember how I handled ...

A Star Tools triumph over light pollution!

The ease of processing difficult images with Star Tools continues to amaze and delight me! The attached M8 shot was taken from orange-zone skies, and at 49 deg. latitude, so in the muck and mire of the urban atmosphere. Amazingly, the "Wipe" module made short work of the horrible gradients that woul...
