Re: Firework Galaxy Tips/Suggestions
Cheman, Thanks for your feedback. This was 42 subs at 120 sec. I do need to clean my optical train. Those dust motes were everywhere. What do you use? Air? Camel hair brush? I was only using 30 flats and they were fro a previous session. All these were taken the same night within a span of a couple ...

Firework Galaxy Tips/Suggestions
So I feel like I am getting worse at this instead of better. :) This was the first time I used my Edge 8 (with 0.7x reducer) to image with my dslr. I am also in the suburbs so I know light pollution is awful. LED street lamps are around near me too. Bhere is what I just can't figure out. I stacked m...

Re: North America Nebula - I'm lost
Thanks! I always have so many questions. So first about white balance. If I don't check the white balance box in DSS i get this when i a autodev. and if i wipe it then i see nothing behind it. So that is why i had to "white balance" Not really understanding what is happening between the two options,...

North America Nebula - I'm lost
My first attempt at a large nebula, the North America. I struggled stacking it for awhile. It would all be red when i auto developed. I figured out a "use white balance" raw setting in DSS that seemed to correct that. So now I actually see something that makes me think the nebula is actually hidden ...

Re: M101
Thanks! So the big question is how do i get data that is not pre-color balanced. I am just using my DSLR Nikon D90 in manual mode. So if their is some other setting I am not aware of that would be awesome to know. Generally my parameters look similar to you. I did not mask the galaxy in the wipe and...

Re: M101
Not a problem at all. I just appreciate you always answering and helping out. Here is the stacked file. Always glad to see what can be done with it. This was my second real target since getting all my equipment working. I was in a much darker spot with very little light pollution compared to my norm...

M101
Still playing around with processing and took a new set of pictures. I feel like some of the stars are so big (bloated). Anything to help minimize that? Any other suggestions based on what the image looks like? I feel like I am having a hard time finding the balance of the second Autodev (after wipe...

Wipe Feature - When to use mask?
When you use wipe, do should you mask the Galaxy/object of interest or leave a mask off.

Re: Trying to learn program
So I followed the workflow you provided. thanks for that. Here is what I get when I follow it. I still have some red and the dust donuts don't go away like yours. You get a much cleaner background than me with the same workflow. But I do think this program is great. This is still better than what I ...

Re: Trying to learn program
One more question. I autodev (and "keep" it), then binned (and keep), created a mask over dust spots (keep), used wipe feature (keep). But when I do this I still have a very red image, the spots are still there and still a lot of noise. I am kinda lost on the "go back in time" feature. Am I missing ...
