Re: Star halo effect
I think I've got it with a coarse mask around blue stars and Filter module in 'Fringe Killer' mode. Note that you must pick samples several times to begin to note the effect.

Nice shot and good color balance. I think the background is too dark, it looks like clipped. Natural background includes some signal.
It would be nice to enhance galaxy arms. Maybe Contrast module could help, not sure. HDR or Large scale Sharp could also be helpfull

Re: Narrowband Bicolor
In your case I'd load Ha to R and try to load OIII in G or B channel to see what it looks.

Another processing from AVA's observatory CAAT I have mixed feelings about these two processings, I think I've got good detail but overall balancing is not quite good. Here I've got a good balance but stars have rings (deconvolution courtesy) NGC7635_LR.jpg Poor balance with no ringing stars NGC7635...

M27 Dumbbell
Another processing of data acquired from AVA's CAAT observatory. God bless synthetic luminance and Ivo's tutorials. I've deliberately mantained balanced colors, M27 is just turquoise or so I think

Re: M45
That technical question is for Ivo. AFAIK you can only forece clipping with some manual settings in Developement or Layer modules.
Probably your problem relates to Wipe. For me is one of the most sensitive steps and a difficult one to keep under control.

Re: Narrowband Bicolor
LRGB module interpolates missing channels, wich i think is what you want.
I think you will like ti read this about sithetic luminance channel, even if I'm not sure it is useful with missing channels

Here is a processing of a briefly exposed object with a good telescope.
I've tried 2 processings:
HaGB http://www.astrobin.com/133235/ RGB with Ha as luma Simply different.

Re: Creating a multi exposure length HDR composite
Thanks for the reply ML, I know what you are talking about. You have made me to re-read DSS help and I was wrong, I though that different groups were useful for working with different calibrations AND for combining different exposures. In DSS help they do not mention anything about different exposur...

Re: Creating a multi exposure length HDR composite
I have a question, isn't it better to stack all those exposures in a single fit? DSS already does that using groups
