Re: linear Tiff's from DSS
By clean I mean an unstretched, linear image suitable for processing with Star Tools.
Apologies if my M33 example is a bit weak.

linear Tiff's from DSS
I'm still struggling with getting clean images from Deep Sky Stacker. :? Can anyone tell me the ideal settings I should be using in DSS v3.3.3 beta 51 for processing with ST? The camera I use is a DSLR Canon EOS T3 (1100D) unmodded. Focal reducer and corrector when using SW ED100. Coma corrector whe...

Does Raw to Tiff conversion stay linear?
To avoid too much loss of colour when loading raw files to Deep Sky Stacker, I've been converting the files to Tiff format first. It seems to have done the trick with regards to colour but I'm wondering whether I've created other problems in doing this. I use Digital Photo Professional for conversio...

M45 Darn good tracking.
Which only means that I should've taken longer exposures.
Converted from CR2 to TIFF using Digital Photo Professional.
Stacked with DSS and saved as TIFF with no adjustments applied.
Processed with ST and converted to JPEG with DPP.

Re: M42 my 1st using ST
Last week was expensive but hey ho we survive and soldier on. Still, my computer's never been so organised. Doubled the size of the harddrive, updated or upgraded all my software and all's working well so far. I've just noticed that when saving a stacked file in DSS you are given a choice ...

Re: M42 my 1st using ST
Since we last spoke my laptop harddrive decided to call it a day and I lost everything except a few images I backed up. :( The Windows 7 registration details had been rubbed off the label so I've invested in W7 64bit and downloaded or installed all the latest software versions that I use. Where were...
