Re: DSS vs Nebulosity vs ???

I use Nebulosity to capture images with my QHY8. It produces a .fit file. I don't think dcraw is designed to handle .fit files. According to Dave Coffin, the programmer behind dcraw, his mission is to "write and maintain an ANSI C program that decodes any raw image from any digital camera on any co...

Re: DSS vs Nebulosity vs ???

Gee Jim, nice going! I would've struggled with scripting you did there (it's been a loooong time since I did any batch scripting for Windows/DOS). Thanks! Thanks Ivo, but the major part of that script was something Steve found on a website someplace. All I did was to suggest the 'pause' ...

Re: DSS vs Nebulosity vs ???

I am using windows 7 but the sendto is in the same place as Vista and I used the dcraw -v -r 1 1 1 1 -4 -T -S 32767 -k 0 -o 0 *.CR2 as supplied by Ivo instead of the -e%1 in the script. A bit of experimenting and if I use the command prompt dos box without going the sendto route, cd all the way to ...

Re: In-Camera White Balance

Thanks Ivo! I probably should have known that but . . . there are a lot of things about that camera I don't know! :confusion-shrug:

In-Camera White Balance

What is the best in-camera white balance setting to use for images to be processed in StarTools? I have a Canon Rebel T3/1100D and the choices are: Auto, Daylight (~5200K), Shade (~7000K), Cloudy (~6000K), Tungsten light (~3200K), White fluorescent light (~4000K), Flash and Custom. I don't see any w...

Re: DSS vs Nebulosity vs ???

Aha! I found a copy of version 9.17 at http://lightzoneproject.org/content/dcraw-917-released and it worked! It reads the wild cards now.

Thanks Ivo! You're great! :bow-yellow:

Re: DSS vs Nebulosity vs ???

Does the option '-t 0' (flip image = none) help with the auto rotate?
Yep! That did the trick. No more auto rotate. I'll see if I can find a the 9.17 version of dcraw.

Thanks!

Re: DSS vs Nebulosity vs ???

Hmmm.... that's odd. Are you using a recent version of dcraw? I can compile one for you if needed... I think the version I'm using is the most recent: version 9.20. Thanks for the offer though. Make sure that the resolution of the output is actually correct. Some older versions of dcraw have a bug ...

Re: DSS vs Nebulosity vs ???

When I enter dcraw -v -r 1 1 1 1 -4 -T -S 32767 -k 0 -o 0 *.CR2 in the command prompt of my Windows 8.1 machine all I ever get back is: *.CR2: Invalid argument The conversion works fine if I write out the very lengthy filenames but I don't relish having to do that for all the lights, flats, dark fla...

Re: Question about the preferred folder for Star Tools

Yes, that seems to be it! And Windows doesn't seem to allow me to change the permissions either. Thanks, Ivo, now I know what's going on. I'll just keep running StarTools from its folder on the C: drive.
