Banding Reduction
I am getting vertical banding at lower ISOs with my DSLR. What would be the best procedure to reduce it, besides increasing ISO next time?

Re: Incompatible TIF files
I just tried running the file through DSS first. Worked like a charm. Thanks again!

Re: Incompatible TIF files
I always use FITS for the tracked processing, but sometimes I like to use the tools in the layer module on images that have already been processed. I may have done some adjustments with other software, and I find that some of the Startools blending operations are very useful. Power of Inverse for ex...

Incompatible TIF files
I have experienced some instances when ST will not accept TIFs, even after I confirmed that they are 16 bit uncompressed. IS there some other criteria that needs to be met?

Stacking TIFFs in DSS - Better for StarTools?
On the Deep Sky Stacker site I have seen a discussion about converting DSLR RAW to TIFFs before stacking. It's apparently
related to how pixels are interpolated while debayering. (1) Has anyone here done it this way and (2) does it yield any benefits in ST?

Re: Laplacian Filter
Ivo,
Yes I am thinking about edge detection and enhancement. Please elaborate on how the Gaussian could be used. I would think that this would have the opposite effect.
Thanks.

Laplacian Filter
In the layers module, how about adding a Laplacian filter? I knw the Sobel filter is there but adding a second order filter could provide more possibilities.

Re: CPU/GPU Resource Usage
Thanks I'll check that out. I also now see that I should have gone over to the main site where the use of the GPU is explained in more detail.
