Re: Leo Triplett
Hi Dietmar, yes, probably not dark enough. It might be easier with a mono setup and gathering huge amounts of luminance (see this https://app.astrobin.com/i/1m3ks5 for example) but that's not in the cards. With regard to the mini pc: yes, I connect via RDP from inside via Wifi and take the notebook ...

Leo Triplett
Here's my take on the Leo Triplett: https://cdn.astrobin.com/thumbs/0YHe3GAhd1Nt_620x0_esdlMP5Y.jpg With 18 hrs I hoped that I get more tidal tail...even the tiny bit you see here was selectively pushed by the Sharp module. Something I usually avoid. Details in galaxies are okay. Seeing the result o...

Re: M81 & M82: Bode's Galaxy and Cigar Galaxy
Oh, I was not aware, that this is possible?! How do you do that? It was the galaxy preset with reduced Detail Size (50px) and Brightness Correlation (50%), increased Strength (150%) and reduced Gamma (0.9). That requires a bit of cheating. You accent e.g. M 81 with the galaxy preset, go to the laye...

Re: M81 & M82: Bode's Galaxy and Cigar Galaxy
Very good image, Dietmar! I like the faint stuff which looks very natural and not forced at all. Noise looks well handled. How did you define the ROI during the final stretch? Just a slice of M82 or no ROI at all maybe? Did you use the same NBAccent parameters for both M 81 and M 82? Several years p...

Re: M42 and the Running Man
Yes, M 42 can definitely benefit from a mix of exposures. With my last attempt somehow my short exposures failed and I was left with only 3 min exposures which were meant for bringing out all that dust. To my surprise application of OptiDev and HDR did a nice job on the core (https://app.astrobin.co...
Re: M 106
Thanks, Dietmar. Yes, I have been very lucky with the recent weather. I would have been extremely lucky if the last three days of clear skies wouldn't have been with a rather bright moon. But thus I catched some broadband on NGC 4395 and two nights of Ha for NGC 4395 which is more than 15 hrs ... a ...

Re: M42 and the Running Man
Very nice image! I had to google what LENR is  My understanding is that indeed no bias frames should be applied since LENR does the subtraction itself without taking dedicated bias frames manually. Without applying the bias frames did the image look overcorrected? AFAIK this is what happens wh...
M 106
We had a stretch of clear nights here and I dedicated three of them to M 106. My last visit is several years ago and my equipment improved a bit since then. Conditions were better now, too. So I thought it might be worth a shot. I gathered about 19 hrs of broadband and 9 hrs of duo NB. This was the ...

Re: NGC 3180 (or NGC 3184?) the Little Pinwheel galaxy
Telescopius says NGC3180 is part of a galaxy. But it says the exact same thing about NGC 3184  On wikidata I found a picture pointing to NGC 3180 as certain region of the galaxy (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1103384#/media/File:NGC_3180_SDSS.jpg). Anyway, great image, especially consi...
