Re: Compose module needs alignment
Startools is not Stacking software and I’m glad it’s not. There are loads of stacking programs out there to prepare your data set for Startools. I’ve started using Siril , then DSS for about 5 years and now use ASTAP which I think is the best stacker around ( as good as Pixinsight ) ASTAP runs on a...

Re: NGC 7293 Helix Nebula in Ha ( additional data )
Plenty of signal and detail there, Martin! Good job :D two questions tho, did you dither? I see some walking noise, streaks mottling on the image, specially on background, even if it's mono camera, I think dither helps too, it's noise after all. I see on your previous image that you shot with 3min s...

Re: The Wizard and a couple of stars
Hi Stefan, so we can agree it works :) Obviously the issue with spikes is one I don't have as I use refractor (and I think there's some sort of mask for the newt spider to make spikes go away ? check this out, unless you like spikes (i dont haha ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILd34isTl14 ) about ...

Re: The Wizard and a couple of stars
I honestly don't know how to explain differently   haha OK  if you want me to try with your files, you can send it to me by email and I can give a try :) I prefer this method than shrink or starless then add stars.. is more "natural" but most people use starnet++ or similar to remo...

Re: The Wizard and a couple of stars
Hi Stefan, I don't understand your point with "NBAccent Stars" .. ? stars are from RGB, when you use NBAccent, the stars shouldn't get modified, if they do you should check the treshold. What you mention on adding color where there is no star..that doesn't happen. Also I'm talking about using H-alph...

Re: Thoughts on using Graxpert
Hi David, I'm using it lately, not always, but find it very helfpul to extract the background. 2 things to consider; 1- Image needs to be 32bit to do good work. I had issues with 16bit, and asked on GraXpert discord and was told so. Since then, no problem, I then save the image from GraXpert in 16bi...

Re: The Wizard and a couple of stars
Hi Carles, I already tried that on one or two former images of mine but never have been satisfied. I guess the culprit was that as you said you have less stars in the NB image. But when you layer the color of the NBAccent image over the NB image you get star color where no star detail is. Looking a...

Re: The Wizard and a couple of stars
Nice image Stefan!! You could try processing halpha or the whole narrowband fiile in compose as Mono, then on Layer mode, use this as base, open this processed color one, and select color from foreground. Since the narrowband image has less stars by default you might get the best of both worlds. Plu...

Re: My dark nebula is too dark
Hi Stefan The flats are darker on one side, but it's the opposite side  The exact same flats were applied to my Wizard image (since I hadn't taken out cam or filter) and all was fine and I got an even field. The Wizard has also been basically gradient free before Wipe. I guess the conditions fo...

Re: My dark nebula is too dark
Following the LGC and Full well topic, this is a M45 image, around 8h and half, doing 600second subs from my Bortle 8-9, IR-UV filter. I believe, mabye i'm wrong, that keeping gain at 0 and LGC, can use the max full well to keep all Pleiades quite compact, and even was able to get Merope's Nebula, t...
