ST vs Dark Archon
Just curious what folks think about PixInsight introducing the EZ Processing Suite by Dark Archon? It's approach seems startlingly similar to the processes in Star Tools. I always compare my Pix results to Star Tools, and much of the time, ST gives me a better result in 10 minutes than I am able to ...

Re: How do I separate stars from target for color saturation?
Yes sir, it's a puzzlement. But I thought that chromatic aberration is something that mostly happens to refractors. I am using the F/2 RASA 8, teamed with the ASI2600MM. Technically, the RASA was designed for OSC. I am among the users that also do, or attempt to do, RGB with it. With my OSC, a ASI26...

Re: How do I separate stars from target for color saturation?
I hand drew a mask over the galaxy (is there a better way?). ST did a fine job of saturating it, better than I could coax out of PI in numerous tries (but I am less than a year in PI). I inverted the mask and the best I could do was nudge the stars away from bright magenta. I was having similar colo...

How do I separate stars from target for color saturation?
I have a problem child RGB project, M63. It has good data, but somehow the channels are not well color balanced/calibrated. I attacked the problem in PixInsight for a week, learning lots! I took the pink stars and inverted the image and ran SCNR on it. That worked well, but still, the galaxy itself ...

Download new version
Ok, sorry, but it's not obvious to me. How do I download a new version of ST and connect it to my license? I currently have ST 6. I can download version 7, but it's the trial. It's just not apparent to me where the license info is (I see my name and email under the "about" tab, but that's it). Do I ...

Re: Auto star shrink
Thanks.
Of course I was using the "Shrink" tab. I didn't try iterations, so I will do that. What you did is an improvement. I read that SCTs and RASAs like mine are prone to bloated stars and halos.

Re: Auto star shrink
So here, I have got masks over mostly just the stars I want to shrink with the little galaxies excluded. Looks like it would work but... what do I do now? If I press the obvious "shrink" tab, the green masks shrink, not the stars. So this is where I am stuck. I could do this backwards, and just mask...

Re: Auto star shrink
In the example below, I just want to shrink some of the bright, bloated stars. But when I try the auto method, the galaxies in the group are green along with the stars. I have tried several times with a lasso mask to circle the problem stars, or to circle the galaxies. But I can't figure out how to ...

Auto star shrink
If I try to use the auto shrink for stars in this RGB image, will the mask protect the background elements of the galaxy, or will the stars in M33 be shrunk as well? Obviously I don't wish the latter, so would I need to manually pick stars to shrink to be safe? The large yellow ones are the main cul...
