AVX2 exe

Is this only for AMD? Or is it SIMD for both Intel and AMD?

So what does DSS do wrong?

Ivo, In reply to another of my posts you rather more than hinted that DeepSkyStacker committed what were in your view cardinal sins in the image processing sphere. So, pray please expound - exactly what does DeepSkyStacker do that is so awful? The only stretching that's performed before the "post pr...

Re: Won't open a TIF file ...

Err well no it doesn't make sense to me at all - it's not as if lossy compression is being used here. Why the prejudice against TIFF? You load images from FITS even though FITS is NOT an image format (though it's often used as such) - the content could equally be anything such as solar seismic data ...

Won't open a TIF file ...

Re: Which stacker?

Just as a BTW, I thought I'd mention that DeepSkyStacker 4.2.2 is WAY faster for most stuff than the earlier releases (50 times faster for some cases), and 4.2.3 will be even faster. Here's the enhancements in the 4.2.2 release: 1. Changes to star registration code to detect larger stars than before...

Re: Processing results not as I expected

Thanks Ivo

Right now I'm up to my **** in alligators trying to get DSS working on XP again! Tiff file handling is borked - not sure it its my code of libtiff right now.

So won't have a lot of time to look at new release of Startools :(

Re: At final de-noise step - progress bar not moving

Progress bar was almost all white - just a smidge of darker colour at the start. The only thing that got me out was closing StarTools (normal close not a kill). All the final part of the log has to say is: --- Wavelet De-Noise Parameter [Filter Type] set to [Distance Weighted Outlier Rejection] Para...

At final de-noise step - progress bar not moving

CPU usage by startools 0.2% ??? Spinning wheel is spinning but that appears to be all that's happening :(

Re: Processing results not as I expected

Still confused about Compose and Colour process. If I go into Compose that seems to be for LRGB stackup and doesn't show me anything. So are you saying that I work through the various stages with the display in monchrome and it's only when I get to the Color (sic) module that I will see a coloured i...
