Re: File types
Hi Ivo, Sorry for very late reply...Basically I use startools as one of my tools for astro. Sometimes I use only ST, but for example I find that undertaking wipe and decon then restoring to original with those done and being able to export that as a (ideally 32bit) .fits data format would be very us...

File types
Any chance to save as other formats except tiff, ideally .fits and even read/write pixinsight .xisf (which I think is open?).. especially restored data after decon etc...I have reasons...

Re: HDR Image composition
Its close I guess. But it would be nice to have a actual module to do this rather than try and find a way with tools. ST can do so much but some of it would be easier with a predefined module...

HDR Image composition
We have a HDR function that is very useful to recover detail from bright areas etc. However, how about a utility to actually create a HDR image using 3 or more non-linear images with functionality similar to this: http://qtpfsgui.sourceforge.net/ While this software could be used it would be nice to...

Re: StarNet integration possibility?
Not nearly as elegantly...heal will fail on huge starfields or look a complete mess. Yes composing can be done in layers but you need this starless image in any case. I'm only suggesting this because I'm using Starnet and many others I know. It really is much easier and more reliable than any other ...

Re: StarNet integration possibility?
Hi Ivo, Yes it can be a little obscure. I use it for: 1. detailed star masks, better than I can achieve in ST currently 2. remove stars from my RGB image so I can fully control nebular colour without any impact to star colour (eg in narrowband), then add stars back. 3. remove narrowband stars from R...

StarNet integration possibility?
Hi Ivo, Many of use are using StarNet to remove stars form images and also to create pixel accurate masks. Is it possible to somehow link to this simple software (eg you place the Starnet folder in say the startools folder and it looks for the starnet folder and executes the program then loads image...

Re: LRGB v RGB
Just to add to Ivo's info, ideally when you do LRGB you would use binning on the RGB channels to again "speed up the process" eg..hardware binning (2x2) for a CCD or software binning (CMOS camera like yours). The idea is that you don't need detail, just colour so you can sacrifice resolution and gai...

Re: Adding Ha data to OSC data.
If it helps I have found that you don't need much blending to get that Ha pop in the red channel, maybe only 25%.

Re: Autodev brightness
Thanks Ivo,
That thread does help. I agree autoDEV shows more detail and thats why Im determined to get the results I want. So do you suggest using the gamma to brighten the image versus running the image in Dev after autoDEV? and advantages to either method?
James
