Re: Layers alignment
I've checked, and APP will do the registration as described. Easy to do in DSS - it's fairly simple, but a bit more involved in APP, as it has more options for stacking. No worries on that aspect. So one could register against the same frame, across stacks. It looks like I also have a couple of alte...

Re: Layers alignment
I use Deep Sky Stacker's ability to use a reference frame from one night to register and stack subs from another. I'm using APP for stacking. APP nominates the 'best' light in the set as a reference, but I may be able to bring in another and just use it as a reference. I do recall that DSS could do...

Layers alignment
Hi! I'm getting back to image processing, after a bit of a hiatus, and I have questions about the Layers module - can you help? I recall (some time ago), having trouble with its' same-size image restriction, but I just took a look, and now see that X and Y pixel adjustments are possible between laye...

Re: Linux64-GPU crash
Ah, well... No matter, for me. It ran for a while, then started to draw masks halfway down the screen before stalling out. Figured I was looking at a graphics memory limitation and gave up on it, as I won't be allocating more. Perhaps on the next machine! In the meantime, the non-GPU version seems f...

Re: Linux64-GPU crash
FYI, finally figured this out for my machine and Kubuntu 18.04.
The 1.7.440 GPU version now starts!
Needed to add these packages:
Beignet
ocl-icd-dev
ocl-icd-libopencl1

Re: SII via subtraction ?
Thanks, Ivo
When the new filter (and clear skies!) arrive, I'll try this out!

SII via subtraction ?
I'm wondering if it would be practical to extract SII from the output of two other filters? I had been using a stock D5300 with an Optolong CLS-CCD filter and refractor for nebula work, and am in the midst of making some changes that I hope will help me do better with my less-than-ideal skies. Curre...

Moving to linux advice?
I'm ready to move StarTools over to the Linux side of my dual-boot machine. Kubuntu at the moment, but may change in the future. I believe that all I really have to do is move the folder (w/license) over to the other side and pick the right executable. No worries about package management, etc. ? But...

Re: Dev/Autodev mask?
Thanks, Ivo! I'll give this a shot and see what happens. This is just a case of nebulosity getting overwhelmed by a very busy star field. I did try standalone starnet++, but complete removal looks odd and leaves artifacts behind (infill). I also tried shrink/tighten, but those also introduced a bit ...

Dev/Autodev mask?
Hi, Ivo I'm currently wrestling with a Crescent Nebula shot, and minimizing all those stars after they have been stretched into visibility is difficult. It occurs to me that rather than stretch the star field into full visibility and then deal with them downstream, a better approach might be to stre...
