IC 4628 Prawn Nebula

I haven’t image the Prawn Nebula since 2022 and back then I was using my 2600MC OSC. The Prawn Nebula was well placed throughout May and captured around 10 hrs of data over 3 nights using my 2600MM and Antlia 3nm SHO filters. Most of the data was captured during a waning moon. Captured over 3 nights ...

NGC 3372 Carina Eastern Outer Region

As the full moon was up over 3 relatively clear nights ( some high cloud in patches) I chose to image the eastern side of NGC 3372 Carina Nebula which has some interesting structures. Location : South Coast NSW Skies : Bortle 3  Conditions : Average to Poor seeing ( stars scintillating ) Transparenc...

Re: Processes or tools for removing moon glare?

I image regardless of the moon phase under both B8 and B3 skies down under but only in Narrowband. Broadband imaging is best utilised with little or no moon around especially small faint targets like galaxies Tips …… Choose the brighter emission nebula away from the vicinity of the moon ( at least 4...

Re: M 61 (Vir)

Although I’m not familiar with this Galaxy being in the Southern Hemisphere, this is an excellent image showing some good detail in the core and spiral arms Also being quite dim at magnitude 10 and only 6 x 6 arc min in angular size , it is not an easy object to image from B4 skies too Well done !! ...

NGC 5139 Omega Centauri

I’ve captured NGC 5139 Omega Centauri “the big daddy” of globular clusters many times before over the years with my old DSLR and more recently OSC 2600MC, However this is the first time using my 2600MM in LRGB As my skies are B8 with a 30% waxing moon descending in the north and north west , I decid...

Reprocess NGC 3372 Carina Outer Regions

Since I’m isolating with a 2nd round of COVID ( yes it is still active in our communities) so decided to re process my Carina image which did provide a subtle improvement. Star color is more uniform with red / blue outer halos now reduced / removed on small to medium size stars. SV Decon did work be...

NGC 3372 Carina Outer Regions

Captured NGC 3372 Carina Nebula for the second time this year , however instead of centre framing the object , I decided to focus on one of the outer arms of this gigantic nebula for a different aspect as the FOV on my rig only captures about 50% of the whole nebula. Captured over 2 nights ( just ov...

NGC 3576 Statue of Liberty Nebula in SHO

Only my second attempt of this wonderful emission nebula NGC 3576 Statue of Liberty Nebula in Carina First time was with my 2600MC OSC back in 2022 Captured over 2 nights under Bortle 8 skies and a full moon , the Antlia 3nm filters were really put to the test . I was very happy with the level of de...
